Some 90 Day Fiance fans are accusing Colt's mother Debbie of bad parenting. In a lot of ways Debbie has been Colt's enabler, for one he is a 34-year-old man with a job but living with his mother. While it's not uncommon for an adult to live with their parents Debbie and Colt's relationship has a codependency dynamic.
It is not entirely fair to blame Debbie for Colt's seemingly inept social skills, but it's easy to see why many 90 Day Fiancé fans do. Colt and Debbie are so dependent on one another that they even share a bank account. It would not be strange if he wasn't an adult. Colt and Debbie's dynamic did not help matters in Colt's tumultuous marriage to 90 Day Fiancé star Larissa Del Santos Lima.
90 Day Fiancé Fans Don't Understand Debbie And Colt's Relationship
Viewers were introduced to Colt Johnson and his mother in the sixth season of 90 Day Fiancé. The mother-son duo was thick as thieves and at first glance, it seemed noble of Colt to live with his elderly mother. However, it was only after his now ex-wife Larissa Del Santos Lima moved in with him and his mother that trouble started.

Even the scene in the most recent episode where Colt and Debbie were comforting each other, he was holding her face, shushing her, etc.... Some 90 Day Fiancé viewers pointed out how Colt never showed an ounce of comfort or affection for his ex-wife like he does his mother.

It's pretty clear that Debbie is overprotective of Colt and wants the best for him. However, they need to set healthy boundaries and that means Debbie taking a step back to allow Colt to be an adult and make his own decisions. Her constant meddling in his relationships put a halt on his love life.
Debbie did not approve of Colt's ex-wife Larissa and certainly does not approve of his current girlfriend Jess Carolina either. In a recent episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? Colt traveled to Brazil to see Jess and his mother decided to tag along. However, Debbie's dislike for Colt's girlfriend put a dumper of the young couple's romantic rendezvous.
From Colt booking one hotel room for the three of them to Debbie slamming doors and yelling because she hates her son's girlfriend, the mother-son duo's codependency is getting out of hand.
