Of All The Actors Who Almost Played Captain America, Who Has The Highest Net Worth Today?

Captain America has always been a major player in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in the fifth Marvel film and being present intermittently throughout since. Chris Evans was given the role of Steve Rogers for the 2011 film Captain America: The First Avenger. And despite Evans turning it down twice before finally accepting the role, he has gone on to appear in 11 MCU projects (including end-credits and cameos). His performance in these movies has made him one of the highest paid actors of his generation.

But not everyone was so lucky, after all there can only be one Captain America. And even though Evans has since passed the shield down, there were different actors that could have been our Captain. Even our own temporary shield holder in Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Wyatt Russell, took a stab at being our star spangled man with a plan.

But even though there were many others, there’s a shorter amount that got shortlisted to play the role. And if it had been one of them, it could have changed their lives entirely. But since it didn’t, here are all the celebs that were almost Captain America and how well off they’ve become since dodging it.

9 Scott Porter - $3 Million

Scott Porter may have auditioned to be in the Captain America movies after his stint as Jason Street in Friday Night Lights, but most of his notable work has been for TV. He was cast as the lovable George Tucker in Hart of Dixie. He also made appearances in shows such as Scorpion, Outcast, Lucifer, and even the viral hit Ginny and Georgia. His inner superhero did get to shine with his voice acting in animated shows like Ultimate Spider-Man, Avengers Assemble and Harley Quinn. He even did voice acting work for numerous video games including portraying Captain America’s right man himself: The Winter Soldier. He has an estimated net worth of $3 million.

8 Wilson Bethel - $4 Million

While Wilson Bethel missed out on Cap in 2011, he was still at peak performance in popularity. After missing out on that role, he was cast for his most well known role to date: Wade Kinsella in the CW drama Hart of Dixie. A short film connoisseur, he also guest starred in shows like How to Get Away With Murder, Criminal Minds, Blood & Oil, and The Astronaut Wives Club. He also became a part of the main cast for Daredevil and All Rise. His net worth is estimated to be around $4 million.

7 Chace Crawford - $6 Million

Towards the end of his Gossip Girl run, Chace Crawford auditioned for the role of Captain America. But since he lost out, he’s not been sitting idle. Crawford has appeared in films like What to Expect When You’re Expecting, Eloise, and I Do... Until I Don’t. He also had a main role in the short-lived ABC drama Blood & Oil. This also wasn’t the end for his superhero days, as he is presently portraying The Deep in Amazon’s The Boys. According to Celebrity Net Worth, he has earned a net worth of 6 million.

6 Garrett Hedlund - $8 Million

Garrett Hedlund was seriously in the running for Captain America, but the schedule conflicted with the filming of Tron: Legacy so he had to abandon it. He also allegedly turned down the role of Christain Grey in the Fifty Shades of Grey series as well as Finnick in The Hunger Games. But he has been busy with roles in movies such as Country Strong, Unbroken, Pan, and Triple Frontier. His net worth is reportedly around $8 million.

5 Sebastian Stan - $8 Million

Since we’ve always known him as our metal arm wielding brainwashed assassin Bucky Barnes (a.k.a. the Winter Soldier), it might be weird for some to know that wasn’t always the plan. Sebastian Stan originally screen tested for Captain America, but it looks like the gods above (or Marvel Studios) had other plans. Stan has appeared as Barnes in 8 and counting Marvel projects, including Captain America: First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Antman, Captain America: Civil War, Black Panther, Avengers Infinity War, Avengers Endgame, and Falcon and the Winter Soldier. He has also starred in non-Marvel related projects, such as Gossip Girl, The Martian and I, Tonya. His net worth is less documented, but he’s been reported to have a net worth as low as $4 million and as high as $10 million. Many sources average his net worth out to $8 million.

4 Scott Eastwood - $10-12 Million

Born and bred in the industry, Eastwood is no stranger to action adventure or the grind of making movies. And despite missing out on a Marvel adventure, he has appeared in numerous projects. Eastwood has appeared in The Perfect Wave, The Longest Ride, Snowden, Fate of the Furious, and Pacific Rim: Uprising. He even appeared in a DC film (which many think holds a rivalry with fellow comic book company Marvel), portraying Lieutenant GQ Edwards in Suicide Squad. He has gained a net worth of roughly around $10 to 12 million.

3 Jensen Ackles - $14-15 Million

Having originally auditioned for the role of Captain America, Ackles was passed over in favor of Chris Evans. But the Marvel executives must have liked what they saw because despite not landing the role, they offered him the role of Hawkeye. Sad to say, the movie's schedule conflicted with the filming of Supernatural so Ackles turn down the role. Even so, with him making around $175,000 per episode of his hit show, Ackles has been raking it in for more than 15 years. He is also set to appear in season 3 of The Boys. His career over the years has gathered him a net worth of around $14 to 15 million.

2 Channing Tatum - $80 Million

Since his stint as a hiphop dancer from the wrong side of the tracks in 2006’s Step Up, Tatum has been in high demand. He has appeared in box-office smashes like She’s the Man, Magic Mike, 21 Jump Street, Kingsman: Golden Circle and The Lego Batman Movie. Tatum has also dipped his toes into the world of romance with Nicholas Sparks’ Dear John and the heartwrenching The Vow. Over the years, Channing Tatum has gained a networth of roughly $80 million.

1 John Krasinski - $80 Million

John Krasinski is best known for his portrayal of Jim Halpert in the iconic mockumentary show The Office. It was reported that he earned $20,000 per episode to start out, eventually climbing to $100,000 per episode. And while he did not hang up his shaggy style for a shield, he did trade the small screen for the big one. He appeared in movies such as Something Borrowed, Aloha, The Hollars, and Brief Interviews with Hideous Men. He also plays the titular character in Amazon’s Jack Ryan. But acting isn’t his only calling, he has dabbled in directing, writing, and producing. He even did all three, as well as star in the horror film A Quiet Place (I and II). He has also been the executive producer for films like Manchester by the Sea. He is estimated to have a net worth of $80 million. He is married to actress Emily Blunt, with their combined net worth climbing over $100 million.
